Meeting at Pozuelo (Madrid), 6-10 May 2009 Madrid was the recent stop of the six-member group of the Hellenic Culture Centre who participated in the project "Cross Cultural Friends". The Greek group visited the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (National School of Languages) at Pozuelo, where they were warmly welcomed by its adult students, who cooked Spanish recipes and danced Sevillianas and other traditional dances. 17 persons took part at this meeting, coming from Italy, Great Britain, France, Austria and Poland. Mr Stratis Psaltou presented the ethnomusical roots of the Rebetiko music, through rare documents that he collected and put together under the title "The magic and mystery of Greek Music: Rebetiko". Italy presented respectively "a tour through history and culture: cities of Apulia". The group visited the Prado Museum, the old town of Madrid, The Retino Park as well as the Pozuelo Town Hall. Our Spanish friends created a very enjoying and educational game, "Who wants to be a millionaire", involving questions about contemporary Spain and Madrid. Ms Hema Pacho Jimenez, responsible person for the Grundtvig programme in Madrid, attended the event at Pozuelo's Escuela Oficial de Idiomas. The next meeting of the project will take place in France, in September 2009 |
