The Hellenic Culture Centre in European seminar
on Validation of non-formal and informal learning

A representative on behalf of the Hellenic Culture Centre has attended the European seminar «Validation of non-formal and informal learning for adult trainees/learners in connection with ECVET and EQF» that was organized By the Institution for National Grants (IKY) as Greek National Agency for Leonardo Da Vinci and Grundtvig programmes in the framework of the Life Long Learning Programme. The seminar took place in Chania, Crete, Greece on 20-24 September 2009. 50 people from 18 european countries have participated to the seminar, all of them representatives of organizations that offer Non Formal Education services to Adults (VET Centres, scientific associations and Trade Unions, Non Governmental Organizations, Foreign Language Schools). The aim of the seminar was to promote applying the principles of quality assurance and ECVET in VET, informal and non-formal learning.

The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET), which concentrates on unit of learning outcomes, constitute two important tools for reassuring the lifelong and trans-national learning in Vocational Education and Training as well as in Adult Education.

The Hellenic Culture Centre met with representatives of public and private institutions who are active in this field and discussed with them possible cooperation in the framework of specific thematic workshops organised by IKY.
