TWO-WEEK ELEMENTARY (A1-A2) GREEK LANGUAGE AND GREEK CULTURE PROGRAMME (GR-2012-149-004)
A Greek Language course that will help you: - Develop all four language skills in Greek - Get familiar with the basic vocabulary and be able to respond to basic communicational circumstances - Know the basic Greek Grammar - Get familiar with the Greek Culture and contemporary Greek reality - Meet Greeks and know the city of Athens The course covers the material included in the levels Beginners 2 or Intermediate 1 of the Hellenic Culture Centre, which correspond to the levels A1 and A2 of the European Language Portfolio.
The course is based on the principles of participatory adult education. The method used is the communicative one, which brings out the communicative aspect of the language. Moreover, the course follows the principles of modern didactics of living languages, which gives emphasis to culture. The daily schedule includes two hours of language instruction, and three hours of extra activities (Singing Greek songs' lesson, visits to Museums and Non Governmental Organizations, presentations on Greek culture, et al):
Day 1 - Presentation of the participants, trainers, and the seminars' programme. - Greek Language lesson - Presentation of the countries/ organizations of the participants - Cultural Presentation and discussion: Athens Day 2 - Greek Language Lesson - Sight-seeing dive in Athens Day 3 - Greek Language Lesson - Visit to a Non Gorvernmental Organization and observing a Greek language lesson to immigrants Day 4 - Greek Language Lesson - Visit and guided tour to the National Archeological Museum
Day 5 - Greek Language Lesson - Singing Greek songs lesson - Interim evaluation of the seminar Day 6 - Cultural walk in the historical centre of Athens Day 7 - Visit to an archeological site Day 8 - Greek Language Lesson - Singing Greek songs lesson - Cultural Presentation and discussion: Food in Greece Day 9 - Greek Language Lesson - Greek film show Day 10 - Greek Language Lesson - Interview with a professional/ artist (native speaker of Greek) Day 11 - Greek Language Lesson - Cultural Presentation and discussion: the history of Greek Language Day 12 - Greek Language Lesson - Final evaluation of the seminar - Greek Cooking class and lunch
