Practice for free the foreign language you learn with native speakers

Have you started learning a foreign language? Although you have reading comprehension skills, you find it difficult to communicate orally? You have somehow abandoned learning the language for years and now you are asked to use it for your new job? You are about to travel in that country and are not sure whether you will be able to communicate with the locals? Are you learning a less spoken foreign language?

If you want to meet native speakers of the foreign language you are willing to practice, please contact the Hellenic Culture Centre.

We get you into contact with our adult students from all over the world and we pedagogically guide you so that you have the results you wish in learning your foreign language. We propose ways of working, materials for teaching and learning as well as exercises for oral practice. The rules are simple: you find some subjects of common interest and you start speaking Greek -and only Greek -for one hour and let's say French for another one hour. Guided by our teachers you could help and be helped in teaching and learning a foreign language.

Our students are translators, interpreters, tourist guides, teachers or University professors abroad, University students, professionals who use Greek as working language or even philhellenes who learn Greek because they love the Greek language and Greece.

They usually live abroad and that is the reason why they don't have many chances to speak Greek. They come to learn Greek in Greece usually for a time period of 7-30 days.

The first meeting is arranged at our offices and then feel free to arrange on your own the place and way to meet each other. The meetings take place in a café, a museum or in any public space, wherever you think appropriate. Your communication could go on even after their departure from Greece through the Internet.

This programme is offered at no cost as we offer it to our language students too as an additional language service, in order for them to gain more chances to practice their Greek apart from the teaching hours in the classroom and to benefit from meeting Greeks with relevant interests.

You could not participate in case you are an absolute beginner (A0) in a foreign language and in case you are not available at least once a week for a couple of hours.

This invitation is also intended for teachers of foreign languages who teach adults and want to organize this activity together with our Centre for the benefit of all our students.
